i love tim schafer

if the videogame world had a tim burton, it would be tim schafer, how apropos. schafer is the mastermind behind many comedic and bizarre creations, almost all of which are highly spoke of and finely tuned masterpieces. the ex-lucasarts designer, now heading his own designs at double fine productions, has announced his follow-up to instant cult classic psychonauts. being published by sierra entertainment, brütal legend is an action adventure game, scheduled for the playstation 3 and xbox 360 in november of 2008, and stars musician/actor jack black as eddie riggs. riggs is a roadie for  brütal legend, his favorite metal band, and owner of a cursed belt buckle. after bleeding onto the buckle, he is transported to a mythic world with rock n’ roll overtones. the game will be a third person perspective, utilizing guitars and ‘face-melting solos’ as weapons. it has also been announced that rock legends lemmy kilmister (motörhead), rob halford (judas priest), ronnie james dio, and more will be voice over actors.

i still think speed racer is cooler

it was recently announced that steve shill, experienced television director, is looking to add one more possible great to his list. yes, nbc has greenlighted a knight rider pilot. doug liman (the bourne ultimatum, cry_wolf), was set to direct but fell back into the executive producer slot due to availability conflicts. the pilot is expected to air as a two hour movie sometime in 2008, with virtual rookie dave andron on script duty.

new trailer released for tim burton horror flick

a new trailer for sweeney todd:the demon barber of fleet street, the newest tim burton film, has hit the net. todd is the story of a murderous barber, betrayed and tortured, back for revenge. the anti-hero/protagonist of the film will be portrayed by burton favorite johnny depp, while other star power includes helena bonham carter (harry potter v, the corpse bride), alan rickman (harry potter series, dogma), and timothy spall ( harry potter iv, lemony snickets series of unfortunate events). the slightly more edgy burton flick, laden with blood and dark overtones, is set to roll into theaters december 21st of this year.

dumbledore dying is so two years ago

j.k. rowling, acclaimed and uber-rich author of the harry potter series, made a stir in an interview earlier this week. during a reading at carnegie hall, rowling revealed that albus dumbledore (beloved wizard and headmaster of hogwarts) was, in fact, a homosexual.

rowling says “i always thought of dumbledore as gay. . .dumbledore fell in love with grindelwald, and that that added to his horror when grindelwald showed himself to be what he was.”

grindelwald was a dark wizard, that, according to sources, was the most powerful dark wizard under voldemort.

well the trailer is awesome

today, capcom announced one of the most anticipated games from fanboys in years: street fighter 4! there is close to no information released on the game but a trailer can be viewed here!

zombies + superheroes = amazing

haven’t heard? robert kirkman, the critically acclaimed author of the invincible comic line, is continuing his hit comic marvel zombies. the story takes place in an alternate marvel universe, also known as the multiverse, on earth 2149. almost all of marvel have become flesh eating zombies, silver surfer and galactus not excluded.

the new story line is out today and takes place 45 years after the first story arc. being dubbed the marvel zombies civil war, the sophomore attempt seems more than promising.

welcome to hell…and a bald guy

two new movies had their official film sites launched today: hellboy 2:the golden army and hitman are both now accessible through the corresponding links. hellboy 2 is set to be released on july 11, 2008 while hitman hits next month, november 21st.  the hellboy website has blurbs from director guillermo del toro, a scrapbook, and screenshots. the hitman site is opened with a trailer and games and screens from the movie.

coheed and cambria help people remember

the popular prog-rock group coheed and cambria has set in motion an event to aid in alzheimers research. a benefit show in new york city has been organized for october 19th, 2007, part of the cmj music marathon, partnered with the new york branch of the alzheimers association. the drive behind the show is the passing of lead singer claudio sanchez’s aunt, antonia cristiano. their new album, good apollo i’m burning star iv:no world for tomorrow, is dedicated to her and their tour (with fall of troy and clutch) will have constant donations to the fund. the album also marks the end of their continuing concept albums, the armory wars.
